How To Make Easter Story Snack Packs

Easter is on its way and with it, Easter baskets and other fun events will soon have our children’s attention. It could be all too easy to miss the message of Easter. That’s the reason behind these Easter Story Snack Mix Packs. You can easily make these yourself but even better, set out the ingredients with the scripture cards and have your kids put together these gifts as they read verses that tell the Easter story. Then share with friends or send to Easter gatherings.

I’ve seen this Easter Story Snack Mix done several ways and you can make variations according to your likes and dislikes. Also, you may need to make changes depending on the ages of the intended recipients. But here is how I put these together.

*If you scroll to the bottom you will find where you can print these tags and scriptures for your family.*

  • Rye Chips represent THE LAST SUPPER – Matthew 26: 26-28
  • Hershey Kisses represent THE BETRAYAL – Matthew 26:15
  • Pretzel Sticks represent THE CROSS – Luke 23:44-46
  • Dark Chocolate Chips represent THE DARKNESS – Mark 15:33
  • Banana Chips represent THE EMPTY TOMB – Luke 24: 1-8
  • Sunflower seeds represent LIGHT OVERCOMES – John 1:5
  • m&m’s represent TASTE AND SEE – Psalms 34:8
  • Marshmallows represent SINS WASHED CLEAN – 1 John 1:9

Once you have your chosen ingredients laid out, place the scripture beside each corresponding item. You can also add more scriptures. For example, we included two scriptures to discuss the betrayal of Jesus. One referencing the silver Judas was paid for his betrayal and the other the kiss that alerted the soldiers which one of them was Jesus. With LIGHT OVERCOMES you can also include John 8:12  I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. Also, 1 Peter 2:9 fits nicely with, “You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people, in order that you may proclaim the mighty acts of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” You can enhance all the scenes of the Easter story as much as you see fit.

Putting It All Together:

We chose plastic baggies to hold our Easter Story Snack Mix Packs but you can also find cute Easter-themed gift bags that would work as well. We just trimmed the ziplock top off of these baggies, twisted and taped them closed, and then added the tag with a piece of pink yarn. I think they came out adorable!

Wishing you a beautiful and blessed Easter,

Gwen
