Are you looking for a peaceful family vacation destination? Perhaps something slower where quality family time is your focus? Edisto Island offers a beautiful beach for swimming, a driftwood beach for picnics and play, and some of the most breathtaking sunsets you can imagine.
Unlike the hurried rush you encounter at most vacation destinations, in Edisto, everything moves at a sweet and slow pace. You’ll discover this beautiful South Carolina sea island is just a few hours from both Savannah and Charleston. So, if you want to plan a day trip for a few hours of higher adventure it can easily be managed.

Top Destinations In Edisto Island
Botany Bay Plantation – 1066 Botany Bay Rd
This is my favorite place on the island. You can follow a driving tour and see the remains of the plantations as well as a beautifully preserved natural area. The most memorable part is the Driftwood Beach!
Edisto Beach State Park-8377 State Cabin Rd
Edisto Beach State Park is located on the coast of South Carolina, 50 miles south of Charleston, near the town of Edisto Beach in Colleton County. The park offers South Carolina’s longest system of handicapped accessible hiking and biking trails.
Edisto Island Serpentarium-1374 SC-174
Reptiles on display indoors & in outdoor gardens, plus shows & twice-daily alligator feedings.
Spanish Mount is a historic archaeological site located at Edisto Beach State Park, Edisto Island, Colleton County, South Carolina. This attraction is an oyster-clam shell midden, about 27 meters long and 3 meters high. The site is bordered by water and marsh on three sides.
Kings Farm Market-2559 SC-174
This six-generation Family Farm & Market is a must-see destination. Visit for some fresh vegetables, a pie, cake, fresh bread, or a delicious frozen casserole.
Where To Eat On Edisto Island
Dockside Restaurant & Bar – 3730 Docksite Road
We all enjoyed our food here but the Seafood Nachos were crazy good! Highly recommend!
Flowers Seafood Company: 1914 SC-174
This is the one the locals consistently recommend. The freshest seafood can be found here.
Seacow Eatery: 145 Jungle Rd # A
The founder and the scallops are amazing! Very friendly staff as well.
Ella and Ollies: 21 Fairway Dr
Because you’ve never had pizza quite like Ella and Ollie’s pizza. They are also well-known for their tacos (served next door).
The Waterfront Restaurant: 136 Jungle Rd, Edisto Island, SC 29438
Seafood, steaks & sandwiches plus buffet options are offered in a casual, nautical-inspired diner. The place stays busy. Everyone loves The Waterfront.
Edisto Island is a beautiful, peaceful family vacation destination. The beach is less crowded, the lines are shorter in the restaurants, the people are kind, and the location is breathtaking. To learn more about the surrounding hot spots check out the posts below.
