Memorial Day was once known as Decoration Day. Americans across the country would gather to celebrate the lives of fallen service members, decorate the graves of the lost, and pray together. Now, known as Memorial Day the decorating done for this important holiday holds its original importance. The Fourth of July marks our Independence as we became a new nation based on our own unique and treasured values. These holidays define us as a country. So, how do we properly decorate for Memorial Day and the Fourth of July? What patriotic decor shares the messages of these holidays best?

Here are my top picks for the best Memorial Day and 4th of July Patriotic Decorations.
The American Flag
This Wooden American Flag from PalletsAndPaint has customers raving, neighbors complimenting, and Americans feeling proud.
This Rustic Burlap USA Wreath from RusticDoorWreaths is a best seller for a reason. Perfect for Memorial Day, 4th of July, Flag Day, and Veterans Day!
I LOVE this Americana Wreath from Twisted Twigs Decor! It’s absolutely gorgeous!
Patriotic Decorations – Porch Decor
Check out this charming Red White and Blue Stars Porch Sign from TheHolidayPorch! It’s perfect for Memorial Day and the Fourth of July!
I adore the galvanized metal stars that are scattered across the south, especially this one from AmishWares which is all dressed up in its patriotic finest.
Stars and Stripes Decor
These sets of Patriotic Mini Signs from TheWoodenTriangle are too cute! So cute, it’s going to be hard to pick just two!
These delightful patriotic pillow covers from OurTraditions come in two different styles. I personally believe I need both. What about you?
These Stuffed Fabric Stars from SheriSewSweet are perfect for tucking in with other patriotic decorations or just tossing in a bowl by themselves. I love the simplicity of these!
Now, these Patriotic Gnomes from KateEmShop might not be your typical Patriotic Decor but they make me smile and I am sure visitors will feel the same way.
Wear Your Tribute This Memorial Day
Some people wear a red poppy on Memorial Day in remembrance of those fallen in war. The poem “In Flanders Field” written by John McCrae is the reason for this beautiful tribute.
This Watercolor Poppy Shirt from PeachTeaAndJesusis a beautiful way to show you remember this Memorial Day.
Well that was fun, wasn’t it? I love driving by homes that have all of their patriotic finest on display and this year, I really want to step up and join them. I always put out our American Flag and I’ve made planters full of red, white, and blue flowers for my porch but this year I want something that boldly states, “I’m proud to be an American.”
